Chloe Johnson- Long Beach State
Madison Smith- Trinity University
Throughout her high school career, Chloe was known for her strong performance as an outside hitter. She reached 1,000 career kills during her final season. She is currently playing volleyball at California State University–Long Beach.

Madison was known for her strong performance as a Middle Blocker. She reached the milestone of 1,000 kills during her career at Gunter, according to a KXII news report. She will be playing collegiate volleyball at Trinity University.

CLASS OF 2024

Brelee Mauldin - University of Arkansas at Fort Smith
Brelee Mauldin, a 2024 Gunter High School graduate, was a decorated setter and outside hitter for the Gunter Tigers volleyball team. Mauldin committed to the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level.
Since then Brelee has joined her sister Rayanna at Southern Nazarene University.

Mauldin tallied over 1,500 career assists and was named to the 2023 All-State Tournament team.

Additionally, Mauldin was a 2024 Texas Girls Coaches Association Legacy All-Star and a three-time TGCA All-State honoree.

Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State: As a senior, Mauldin received an Honorable Mention in the TSWA Class 3A All-State selections for her performance as a setter.

All-District Honors: She was named to the All-District Second Team in November 2021 during her sophomore year.

While at Gunter, Shae played the positions of outside hitter, setter, and defensive specialist. Pruiett was a key player for Gunter, helping them reach the state semifinals her junior year and the state championship match her senior year.
After graduating from Gunter High School in 2022, Pruiett went on to play collegiate volleyball at North Central Texas College (NCTC). At NCTC, she was named the Co-Most Valuable Player of her conference and received First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region honors.
Shae has since transferred to Stanislaus State in California. During the 2024 season at Stanislaus State, Pruiett recorded 407 assists while playing in 106 sets. She earned six double-doubles, including one during the CCAA Championship match. Pruiett was also recognized on the Fall Athletic Department Honor Roll and named CCAA All-Academic.

Mikayla Watson’s volleyball journey began at a very young age, inspired by her desire to play alongside her older sister. She spent much of her childhood in the old Gunter gym, where her mother, Tonya Watson, served as the PE teacher and volleyball coach. Mikayla began playing club volleyball in 6th grade and quickly knew it was a sport she wanted to pursue long-term.
In high school, Mikayla had the unique opportunity to play for her mother, who was Gunter’s head volleyball coach at the time, for four years. She excelled as a player and still holds many of Gunter’s volleyball records today. After graduating, she continued her athletic and academic career at Oklahoma Baptist University, playing collegiate volleyball while earning a degree in exercise science.
Following college, Mikayla returned to Gunter as a PE teacher and assistant volleyball coach under Katelyn Gill. During that time, the team won a state championship in 2022 and made multiple state appearances. She now lives in South Dakota, where she is entering her second year as the head volleyball coach at St. Thomas More in Rapid City. In a full-circle moment, her mother is now her assistant coach. Mikayla plans to continue coaching volleyball for as long as possible.

Heather O’Bier is a proud Gunter Tiger alumna whose volleyball journey began on the courts of Gunter High School. After a standout high school career, she continued her athletic and academic path at Brookhaven College. During her time there, Heather helped lead her team to a National Championship
